Purposeful@67: Lynn Monsanto Marks Her Birthday by Giving Back

By Nestor Tugade Layderos*

There are celebrations that end with applause.

And there are celebrations that begin a movement.

Purposeful @67 was more than a birthday—it became a powerful testament that one life, surrendered to a greater purpose, can inspire hundreds of others to give, to hope, and to heal.

It was an honor to host this unforgettable evening as Ms. Lynn Monsanto transformed her 67th birthday into a mission of compassion through Anchor of Hope & Strength, Inc. What could have been a personal milestone became a legacy of generosity, raising nearly ₱500,000 to bring hope, care, and encouragement to cancer warriors and their families.

Every moment carried meaning.

From heartfelt worship that reminded us of God’s faithfulness, to moving testimonies from brave cancer warriors whose courage touched every heart in the room. From the symbolic Tree of Hope, where every pledge represented a promise that no one fights cancer alone, to the generosity shown through registrations, donations, raffle purchases, live auctions, and heartfelt giving—every act of kindness became another chapter in someone’s story of hope.

One of the evening’s greatest reminders was simple yet profound:

Hope is strongest when it is shared.

I was also privileged to share the stage with two remarkable women in media—Ms. Chiqui Pablo of DZME, whose inspiring testimony as a cancer survivor reminded us that miracles still happen, and Ms. Chinkee Mangcucang, Executive Director for Brand Communications of The Daily Tribune, whose presence added grace and excellence to the celebration.

It was equally wonderful to reconnect with respected leaders and dear friends, including Dr. Josh Ramos of Menra International, Mr. Daniel Dawal of Kuyatech IT Services, and fellow leaders from Haggai Philippines – Metro Manila Chapter led by Gov. Grace Padaca, together with Celine Lim, Leah Ponio, Carol Bataller, and Ysa Trinidad. Special appreciation also goes to Ms. Princess Anne Domingo and the entire organizing committee whose dedication made this purposeful evening possible.

More than celebrating another year of life, Ms. Lynn reminded us that the greatest legacy we can leave is not measured by birthdays celebrated, but by lives transformed.

To every donor, volunteer, sponsor, bidder, guest, and prayer partner—thank you for proving that compassion has the power to change lives.

May this evening inspire all of us to continue becoming instruments of hope for those carrying life’s heaviest battles.

Because when people unite with compassion, generosity becomes healing, and ordinary moments become extraordinary miracles.

To God alone be all the glory.
