East Avenue Medical Center Expands Access to Free and Subsidized Cancer Care

Quezon City – East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) continues to play a vital role in  providing free and subsidized cancer care to patients nationwide through its Cancer  Assistance Fund (CAF) and Malasakit Centers, ensuring that life-saving treatment  remains accessible to those who need it most.

In a major milestone, EAMC officially opened its five-story Advanced Cancer Center in  October 2024, strengthening its capacity to deliver specialized and affordable cancer  treatment. The state-of-the-art facility now serves as an apex referral center, offering  comprehensive and advanced oncology services to patients from Quezon City and beyond.

Comprehensive Cancer Services and Financial Support

EAMC’s cancer care program integrates medical excellence with robust financial  assistance. Patients may avail themselves of the following services and support  mechanisms:

  • Cancer Assistance Fund (CAF): Provides coverage for essential diagnostics,  therapeutic procedures, and cancer-related medicines.
  • Malasakit Center: A centralized, one-stop facility that streamlines access to  financial assistance from government agencies including the Department of Social  Welfare and Development (DSWD), Department of Health (DOH), PhilHealth, and  the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO).
  • Comprehensive Oncology Care: Services include radiation oncology, nuclear  medicine, chemotherapy, surgical oncology, and care at a dedicated breast center.
  • Quezon City Government Partnership: Offers free cancer screenings, including  mammograms for women aged 50 and above, as well as subsidized cancer  treatment—particularly for breast cancer—for qualified Quezon City residents.

How Patients Can Access Assistance

Patients seeking financial or medical assistance for cancer care are advised to coordinate  closely with the EAMC Medical Social Work Department, which manages access to CAF  and other support programs. Documentation requirements typically include:

  • Clinical abstract
  • Treatment protocol or prescription
  • Social case study or indigency certificate
  • Barangay certificate
  • Valid patient identification

Recently, the EAMC Medical Social Work Department was formally recognized for its  outstanding management of the Cancer Assistance Fund, underscoring its commitment  to compassionate, efficient, and patient-centered care.

Through expanded facilities, integrated financial support, and dedicated healthcare  professionals, East Avenue Medical Center continues to reaffirm its mission: to make  quality cancer care more accessible, affordable, and humane for every Filipino patient.
