Called to Confront, Chosen to Restore: The Message of the Major Prophets

The Major Prophets—Isaiah, Jeremiah, Lamentations, Ezekiel, and Daniel—stand among the most profound and influential writings in the Old Testament. Called “major” not because of greater importance, but because of the length and depth of their books, these prophets addressed critical moments in Israel’s history marked by spiritual decline, political upheaval, exile, and hope for restoration. Through vision, poetry, narrative, and symbolism, they communicated God’s word to His people with urgency and compassion.

Studying the Major Prophets invites readers to encounter God’s holiness, justice, and mercy on a grand scale. These books confront sin and complacency, call for repentance, and reveal God’s sovereign control over nations and history. At the same time, they offer some of Scripture’s most powerful promises—of forgiveness, a renewed covenant, and the coming Messiah—pointing ultimately to God’s redemptive plan for all people.

This study aims to deepen understanding of each prophet’s historical context, message, and theological themes while helping readers see their lasting relevance today. As we explore the Major Prophets, we are challenged not only to learn but to listen—to hear God’s voice calling His people to faithfulness, justice, and hope in every generation.

Beginning on May 19, 2026, guest lecturers from the Philippine Haggai Institute Alumni Association and other christian pastors/leaders will lead this study.
