Ruth: A Study of Faithfulness and Redemption
Ruth is one of the Bible’s most inspiring figures, known for her loyalty, humility, and strength. Her story is told in the Book of Ruth, set during the time of the judges, when faithfulness was rare. Against this backdrop, Ruth’s life shines as a testimony of love and trust in God amid loss and uncertainty.
A Moabite widow with no security or status, Ruth faces a defining choice after her husband’s death: return home or remain with her widowed mother-in-law, Naomi. Her decision to stay—“Where you go I will go”—reveals commitment to Naomi and to Naomi’s God, marking the beginning of her journey of faith.
Ruth’s greatness is shown through ordinary faithfulness. She works diligently, acts with kindness, and follows God’s leading. God uses her obedience to bring redemption, making her an ancestor of King David and Jesus Christ. Her story teaches loyalty, perseverance, integrity, and trust in God.
